About Us

The city of Pontiac is constantly maligned as a scandalous "armpit" of Oakland County.  Some would say it is for good reason:  Crime, speculation of corruption at City Hall, and economic factors (property value, income level, development) all make Pontiac an easy target.  Along with these are other issues that affect residents of Pontiac ranging from providing sanitation services to the Silverdome redevelopment.

Within this site we'll examine these issues and give opinions as to some possible solutions.  After all, people with complaints to render should have solutions to render.  These fixes are what will elevate Pontiac and make a diverse community, riddled with problems, become a model for the world.  The plan is a simple one, but the results will not come overnight.  Together, we can be rivaled by our neighboring communities as we make opportunities out of obstacles.

Then the obvious thing to do is just start over... Right?

"Initially, I was excited about the efforts under way. Unfortunately, I thought we would be further along in the process by now. ... Although countless hours have been expended in advertising, soliciting, reviewing and meeting to discuss proposals, we are not much closer to selling the Silverdome than we were this time last year."

Mayor Clarence Phillips, in a memo to City Council, requesting that none of the Silverdome redevelopment proposals be accepted. (The Oakland Press, February 8, 2008)
